Create base promo code

There are 2 options to create a base promo code.

Option 1 - Create new promo code

1. Go to UPlay Contents > Promo Codes

2. Click Tools icon to expand the menu

3. Click +New. A new popup window will appear.

4. At Promo code edit screen, you can configure promo code settings.

New promo code

Refer to below table for field descriptions and functionalities.

Promo code *	Name of promo code. This value is entered on the checkout page ( except for Uniquely generated promo codes). Make sure to always provide unique names to promo codes.	Textbox
Discount type *	3 discount types are available as follow: (a) Amount - Discount with a fixed amount (eg: $15) (b) Percentage - Discount with fixed percentage (eg: 10%) (c) Tethered - Tagged to a price tier Rules for Tethered: (i) Price rate for a specific tier is defined at a package level that the promo code will be used against. (ii) If customer belongs to the segment that the promo code is tagged against, then the promo code discount will be ignored as the customer already has this price. (iii) If customer does not belong to the price tier segments that the promo code is tagged to, then the promo code discount will be applied.	List
Discount amount *	Field is hidden by default. Field will appear when discount type is selected as Amount or Percentage.	Numeric (Decimal)
Max cap	Field Max Cap is applicable when a cap to the discount amount has to be set. Only applicable when Discount type = Percentage is selected. The value set defines what will be the maximum discount a customer can get. Eg: Promo code provides 25% discount but max cap is configured to $10. This means that if a customer has a $100 package in their cart, their max discount will be capped at $10, instead of $25.	Numeric (Decimal)
Tethered segment	Field is hidden by default. Field will appear when discount type = Tethered is selected. Clicking on the search icon opens a search screen, where the user can find the customer segment they want to tag the promo code with.	Search
Membership award	Shows a list of all available club membership. Upon successful purchase using a promo code that has a Membership award set, the customer will be awarded with a membership to the specified organization.	List
Total Qty	Maximum quantity of promo codes that will be made available for use.	Numeric (Integer)
Promotion start date	Start date of promotion validity period. Leaving this blank will create an open ended promo code.	Date
Promotion end date	End date of promotion validity period. Leaving this blank will create an open ended promo code.	Date
Is active	Status of the promo code. (a) If checkbox is checked, promo code is enabled and available for use. (b) If checkbox is not checked, promo code is disabled and unavailable for use.	Checkbox
Is global	Whether the promo code can be applied for all packages. (a) If checkbox is checked, promo code is available and can be applied with any package. (b) if checkbox is not checked, promo code is available and can be applied to specified packages only.	Checkbox
Apply on Price tiers	Whether promo code can be applied for various price tiers. (a) If checkbox is checked, promo code will be applied to the price tier highlighted for the customer. (b) if checkbox is not checked, promo code will be applied to the package default price.	Checkbox
CardBINPrefixes	Field is hidden by default. Field will appear when isGlobal checkbox is checked. Defines a single or an array of credit card BIN prefixes such as 424254*, 222222* When a customer is using this promo code, they need to enter a credit card that matches the BIN prefix pattern in order to enjoy the discount. One-time use	Whether promo code is for single or multiple uses. (a) If checkbox is checked, promo code can be applied only once per customer. (b) If checkbox is not checked, promo code can be applied multiple times.	Checkbox
Generate unique codes?	Avalon will generate code with unique prefix (based on the promo code name) and suffix. (a) If checkbox is checked, unique codes will be generated with the same type and discount amount as the original promo code. (b) All generated codes are one time use only. 1. Click Save to proceed with changes or Cancel to exit without saving.

2. Verify the newly created base promo code by searching for it.

Option 2 - Clone from existing promo code

1. Go to UPlay contents > Promo code.

2. Input a keyword into Keywords textbox and click Search button.

3. Click Tools icon to expand the menu

4. Click on Clone option, a window with the promo code edit screen will appear.

5. Edit promo code field values accordingly.

6. Click Save to proceed with changes or Cancel to exit without saving.

1. Verify the newly cloned base promo code by searching for it.

Only base promo code settings are cloned. Other info such as linked packages and unions (Allowed entities) are not cloned.

How promo code is applied to items in cart

1. Discount amount is always subtracted from the default price and not from discounted package prices, unless checkbox Apply to Price tiers is checked.

2. If 'Is Global' checkbox is checked, promo code is applied against the total price. Eg: If 1 transaction contains more than 1 ticket, promo code will be applied towards the total price of tickets and not per single ticket.

3. If 'Is Global' checkbox is not checked, promo code will only be discounted from the price of the package that is linked to the promo code. Eg. Customer has Package A and Package B in their cart. Package B is linked to promo code 'BBBB' which does not have IsGlobal checked. The discount of the promo code will only be applied to Package B
